The team DIT2 withdrew from Senior competiton. All matches (played included) are cancelled from record.
Hey guys... I think it was a little unfair on dcu the last two weeks! i asked specifically at the start of the season that we not have any games for the end of jan and beginning of feb because we were doing exams... now we lost by 20 to DIT cos we had to play with 3 beginners and had to cancel against lughnasa now we have no matches for a month! im not asking for anything to be changed in the matches but its a pain in the ass that we werent allowed to change the dates...

Why you change decisions without contacted sites? We're (DCU& St.Pats) in the middle of organizing postponed game this weekend.

DCU: are you sure you asked that? to who? how? when? No request arrived to me.
St.Pat's: decision were never changed, as never taken! And this is not a decision, but a simple application of rules.
The rule ask for a 7 days notice.
I have to apply it. it is up to you to search a different solution, but till the game is organised and I am sure that all club are fine with that....rules rule! So, UCD is fine with rescheduling, ask all other clubs. Someone might not find it fair as rules were out and accepted in Sept!!

I contacted DCU 2 weeks before game date. They accepted.
Haven't seen any "rules", about letting know all people around before. My fault probably. But rules are for people, there are some special occasions like Christmas, exams... Can't see any problem with rescheduling games because of above or other important reasons. Don't think other team even notice that this or other game is postponed.
But anyway St.Pat’s is fine with friendly against DCU, we play because "we love this game"...

So what is the story with DCU vs St. PAts game? There is many comments and they are bit confusing.
Is this game going to be played or has it been decided already?
My personal opinion is that this season has not been well organized and the rules are only followed when it suits some teams.
As we know, many teams are depending on their "foreigner" players (students) and it is normal that they will be away for the certain periods (exams, holidays) so I think we should be more flexible about changing the dates.
I am only curious to know what is IOHA role in all this? They seem to make one step forward and three backward!!!
It's bit ridicules to have all these problems with who is referring what match, where the games will be played and selection of the referees (not complaining but referees in a Cork are people who used to play for a Cork!).
IOHA should be more involved with day to day issues and not just selling t-shirts (they are nice but that shouldn't be the only role of IOHA).
How come we never get any posts or contacts from IOHA?
I think we need to have a meetings every now and then with all clubs represented and to decide about the future of this sport in Ireland (that we all love so much) and hope that next season could be way much better than this one!

Interesting last comment!
First let me answer to Jakub. Rule says that you have to contact ME and only ME, as I AM THE MAN! But As I do not want to be involved in all these things I am happy enough if teams arrange by themselves and then let me know. As Far as I know the match between St.Pat's and DCU was re-scheduled a few times, till the final cancellation a few days before. However, I am flexible and understanding, but the rule is there and was agreed by all teams back in Sept. Now, I am not going to bend it without the agreement of the teams that approved it! And this lead to the second answer to tyhe anonymous......

Anonymous starts complaining for the "flexibility" the IOHA has versus some team. So Jakub, see...somebody is not happy to let St.Pats-DCU be rescheduled. Not be, but whoever signed Anonymous.
The second point of Anonymous, who evidently hasn't read or received the rules. Matches can be moved, rescheduled, etc anytime till 7 days before the match. We believed that 7 days is enough to know if your players are around or not. You also need to consider the time some club need to cancell hall time etc...
Please tell me one example when the rules were changed or ignored to suit some team...I might have not noticed!
Referee....nobody wants to go to Cork to ref. so there is no solution there. beside all referees are also players, so nothing seems to be fair.
Finally, who are you? you are calling for a meeting with all teams...very nice! Just let you know that this year league and all rules were organised and approved during a meeting with all teams, no decision is taken by one person, but all is decided by a group of representative from all teams. So as to Andrea, or Martin, or Boris, or Eoin, or Paul, or whoever is you repr.
for what concern the senior league, the IOHA does not exhists! We do, decide etc everything by ourselves!
Now, I think it is very good to know that you want to be involved, may be you organise next year league!

Sorry , forgot to sign the last post. 53 here (who else)

The game wasn't rescheduled before, just moved for later, when both teams can play. But ok, my mistake i contacted DCU but didn't contact THE MAN.
We going to play this saturday 1pm to 3pm in St. Columbus, i'll arrange referee and will keep score sheet. Then i'll asked other team about their opinion. If one team dissagree, we keep it as is now.

Or, maybe that better.
Can all teams vote now here in posts: YES or NO for rescheduled DCU-PAT's?
Thanks!

Sorry for all misunderstanding 53,I am Anonymous who started this about IOHA.so you are saying that IOHA has nothing to with this season senior league?Ok, I am from St Pats (will log on the site properly when I get chance) and have to admit I haven't read the rules or anything (Martin is our rep but he kind a kept low profile, was sick lately and have been busy with a work so Jakup jumped in and he should be contacted for anything to do with league (from St. Pats prospective)).
Still think that IOHA should be involved, maybe at least help out with paying referees so that they can travel if necessary (clubs shouldn't be forced to pay for everything, hall, referee)

Anonymous, I see your point. there is a thing you should know, and you will realise soon. IOHA never organised any the senior league, ever. Actually the IOHA does not organise any of the competitons that run under the IOHA. what happen is that for each type of competition there is a small group of people (as small is the number of people that wants to be involved) that does everything. these are volunteers from clubs that assume the role of IOHA competition commetee. Basically the IOHA is ourselves. At present there is a discussion going on on how to improve the organization of matches and how to solve the issue "referees". Money....is also on the table. What we decide will go! Just bear in mind that one of us ( may be you) will have to do the work. Understand?
Anonymous said... 5:31 pm, February 09, 2006
......one more thing, IOHA has no money and expects Clubs to pay for everything, plus some extra to survive. Actually, in Europe it is pretty much the same, entry fees and referee fees are quite high, in Italy at least! Clubs might get some funding back if they have a lot of kids....but I am not sure

I dont mind playing the match as competitive but not tomorrow as we only got two days notice and most of our players couldnt get off work on a sat aft!!! we'll be lucky to have 7! but also i think we agreed on the rules at the start and we gotta abide by them and learn for next year! Eoin (one of these days ill sign in here!)
Anonymous said... 2:07 pm, February 10, 2006
As for all the rest of this stuff - if anybody knows about the IOHA neglecting snior competition its Andrea! he had to run the league on his own for the last 5 years with a little help from ciaran and me.. (and we appreciate it!) this year every club had a rep at the meeting at the start so the rules were made by all of the clubs together... we cant rely on the ioha for anything - money, tech support, promotion, etc its not really value for money for our registration fees! we paid nearly 1500 in fees and registration this year and im not sure what we got out of it - anybody know??

Ok let’s close this affair. Friendly, and only friendly tomorrow.
We’ll learn from this definitely.
But there is another interesting issue, beside the postponed games.
Good question Eoin. What is the idea of paying fees? To who?
If we paid only to use IOHA name, maybe we should come up with own name instead,
and keep money for promoting strictly Senior Handball in Ireland better?
Or maybe there are costs that i don’t know about?

Jakub, you opened the classical can of verms! This has been pointed out before, and you are not the only one to think in this way. But yours is not the only opinion or idea. as example Tom O'B. from Lughnasa has a different plan alltogether. He also sees this as a waste of money, but would invest in a different direction. I would let this discussion to go on, to move minds and circulate info. then I'll call a big meeting and close on some project for next and following years. One things: I'll call ONE meeting, as per previous experience people tend to talk before and not showing up at. If this meeting fails we stay as we are as I am not runnig after complaining ghosts
