2005/2006 Senior League
A few weeks ago the senior competition committee met for the first time this year to discuss the organization of the 2005/2006 senior league.
It has been asked to the committee to suspend any competition till the end of the Challenge Trophy were the Irish National squad is called to participate next November.
Personally I refused such idea because I could not see how this would be beneficial to the Irish players, and I find it quite damaging for all the other players not involved in the competition.
The senior league should regularly start late September early October.
The structure is still under discussion and any idea is welcome.
Even better would be if people are taking responsibility and decide to participate in the organization and running of the league.....Put your name down!

How many do you have in DCU at present? UCD can put together a team of about 8-9. Enough to start, or to play some kind of competition. I believe 5 teams are ready to play!

If the irish players decided that it will be bad for them if they play before August, we have to respect that.
But we can't forget the 80% of the players who play the league. So, why don't we make a friendly tournament, with the the rest of the players.
But the way, I guess Emiliano from UCD was the best player ever in the irish history of handball.
Best Regards,

I believe you are right, Emilano IS the best player in the history of Irish handball, and he is good looking too.

Weve got maybe 7 in DCU - maybe!! if we start the league we'll be starting at a disadvantage (which could be bad for the rest of the season!) no problem playing a cup but not the league!
PS of course Emiliano is the greatest player i have ever seen...

A cup is fine for me as far we play some competitive match. However, what about starting early or mid October?

Well, as we saw last year, it's NOT a good idea to start that late in the year! College teams are not formed yet due to all the newcomers but it should be no problem to start the league mid/end of October!

no last year we started the league in feb which was crazy but if we start in mid-nov we should (!) have no problems...

mid Nov will give only 2 or three matches before Christmass. We need to check carefully the calendar and the Halls availability (and students...with all their breaks)

last year it was supposed to start at the 8th of January! Which was not considering the students ...... and it was a disaster! November is too late as '53' already explained and I support this totally (that we have to start earlier!)!

The best thing to do is
League with matches played home and away, 3 points for a victory, and the first 4 teams will play for the title, starting strait after the challenge cup.
Before the cup (Oct - Nov) Irish cup like the warm up last year, i do not understand why for 15 players other 100 have to stop.
